Happy Lemon Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese

I didn’t know Happy Lemon have already opened at Robinsons Place Manila, until a while ago. According to Happy Lemon’s Facebook, it opened last April 18, 2012.  My mom and I usually stops by at Robinsons Place Manila after church with our usual routine: eat, grocery, home. We went to eat at Recipes, and while waiting for our order I excused myself to go to the washroom which was located at the other side of the same floor. Along the way I saw the stall of Happy Lemon, there were only very few people in line so I excitedly told my mom to buy a drink after eating lunch.

Happy Lemon was introduced to me by my boyfriend. I’m not a fan of teas, milk teas, flavorful drinks and the likes, but since my boyfriend told me to try it out, I did. The first branch of Happy Lemon that I visited was at Power Plant mall in Rockwell and I honestly can’t remember what I ordered back then because I didn’t liked it — My boyfriend didn’t liked it too, ha ha. My boyfriend ordered his favorite drink, Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese – at first I thought that the mixture of rock salt and cheese was a bit odd, but after taking a sip from his drink, it was surprisingly good; the cream cheese froth is just addicting. And so it became my favorite drink as well.

I ordered a large cup of Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese for my mom and I to share since she didn’t like anything on their menu at that time. While happily sipping on the drink, I felt a small solid stuff in my mouth, I thought it was nothing so I just swallowed it. After a while I took another sip and there was the solid stuff again. There were a few of them so I removed them from my mouth and was surprised to see pieces of plastics:

It has a Korean character and has the letters “Ke” — it could mean “keep” from “keep refrigerated” or something. My mom also caught one and hers was a bit bigger than mine. I don’t know whether the girl in front of me had it as well since we had the same order, but hers came first before mine and left as soon as she got her drink. I was actually hoping to write a positive review about Happy Lemon, but unfortunately this had to happen. Well, accidents happen, but I just want to share my experience.

Heads up to all business owners: Do remind your employees every now and then to make sure that their surroundings are clean at all times, and that all disposable stuffs are taken care of. Sometimes they tend to forget because they’re focused on making the drink as fast as they could. A little reminder won’t hurt.

Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese is a delicious beverage and it’s one of Happy Lemon’s best seller. Who doesn’t love cocoa? It’s one of my favorite drinks! The cream cheese froth that I had was actually very sweet, but the saltiness was just right. There are only a few table and seats available for Happy Lemon’s customers, adding a few more would be better.

That could have been dangerous in another circumstances.

  10. You should've told them about the incident. They could've given you a complimentary drink to compensate for their mistake. On another note, I haven't tried happy lemon yet, but I heard they were good. :P Napagiiwanan na ko!

    Exchange links? :D

  11. Ugh, yuck that's pretty off. You should have told them about that as soon as you discovered it. You can sue them for that even.

As for me, the only problem I've encountered from Happy Lemon was that when I tried the newly opened Happy Lemon branch at Bonifacio High Street the Cocoa with Rock Salt and Cheese was a bit salty than usual. With your experience, I think I'll just stick getting my Happy Lemon from their first store, the one in Promenade, Greenhills since I think people/staff there are more experienced already than the newly opened ones.

  14. If they're so clumsy about these things, they could be in big trouble. I've heard about Happy Lemon, and also about the rock salt and cheese drink, and I really wanna try it! I don't know that many places that sell milk teas around me. :( But anyway, I hope that it wouldn't happen again. I mean, as much as you like that rock salt drink, I think its gonna be really disappointing that there was something in the drink that you weren't expecting…
